If a night of 80s rock tunes, movie references and knee-high neon pink socks is what you crave, you’ll find them all at Top Fun! as hypnotist Matt Hale throws the Fringe back 40 years with this nostalgic theme for his new show.
With pink lights and Bon Jovi blaring, this isn’t your stereotypical depiction of hypnosis. No pendulums are swing, nor are the words ‘you are now under my command’ uttered. Hale talks about the psychological phenomena of hypnosis as the everyday sense of losing time, or hyper-focusing on one thing so that everything else falls away. He simply engages that state, with a combination of repetition and tone changes to relax and encourage his volunteers, who then play along with his antics in true 80s rock wildness.
Stage volunteers must be over 18, fully engaged in the process (and may also want to be spritely), but it’s perfectly fine to bring the family along for an evening of laughter together as well as plenty of grooving, jamming and maybe even something prehistoric.
