Despite the soaring temperatures over the weekend, Josh Staley’s Wacky Wizardry Goes Wrong was some welcome entertainment for the kids.
A talented magician, Staley has put together a delightful children’s show combining humour, magic and lots of interaction and audience participation. Built around a running joke of Staley’s tricks going wrong, the families in the audience were captivated by his infectious energy and hilarious antics.
The highlights of the show were Staley’s ability to engage the audience and almost every child in the audience was invited on stage to participate in magic tricks and become part of the show. The reappearance of rubber chickens throughout the show had the children screaming “CHICKEN!” every time they appeared. It not only kept them entertained but also created a sense of wonder and excitement as they witness magic (or see the tricks “go wrong”) to much laughter and glee.
The tricks themselves are both impressive and entertaining. From magic wands appearing out of thin air to multiplying money (yes please!), Staley kept the audience guessing and in a state of amazement throughout the performance. What sets Wacky Wizardry Gone Wrong apart is Staley’s comedic twist on traditional magic, adding a layer of humour that appeals to the whole family.
Colourful props and engaging storytelling add to the productive value of the show. Staley’s charisma and stage presence shine throughout, making him a natural entertainer for young audiences.
Wacky Wizardry Goes Wrong is a magical experience filled with laughter, wonder, and excitement. Staley’s talent as a magician and entertainer is evident in every aspect of the show, making it a perfect choice for a fun family outing at Adelaide Fringe. Recommended for anyone with kids who are looking for a spellbinding adventure with lots of laughs.
