I love magic. I am that person who loves to try and work out how a trick is done, to the point that I recently designed several illusions that were used in a musical production. Over the years I have watched countless magic and illusion shows. At this year’s Fringe, winner of Sweden’s Got Talent Charlie Caper brings one of the best up-close magic shows I have ever seen. You need to see this show to grasp how good Charlie is.
Charlie Caper : Magical is just that…magical. He has the remarkable ability to reach both the young and the older members of his audiences, drawing them into his mysterious world.
You cannot help but like Charlie. He welcomes you into the performance space whilst he’s still setting things up and banters his way through the audience as if you are all long-time friends catching up.
A master of sleight of hand, you need to keep your eyes peeled because if you blink, you’ll miss some of the quickest object movement I have ever seen. Charlie has a wonderful mixture of new tricks that he has created along with some tested, tried and true tricks that you may have seen in other magic shows. What sets Charlie apart though is he puts his own twist to them, making them fresh and new.
Charlie Caper : Magical is sixty minutes in length, but time stands still when you watch Charlie perform. His personality is infectious, his tricks are second-to-none and you leave the venue wanting to rush back in to see the show again.
It’s hard to review Charlie without wanting to give away some of the tricks he does, or to just say “go see him, he’s brilliant”….but…go see him, he’s brilliant.
