Inhibition? Chastity? Modesty? Yuck! Adore Händel has danced the masochism tango and liked, loved and kissed a long list of eligible (and not so eligible) men, women and gentlethems. A saucy pansexual time traveller, Händel shares the sordid details of their past loves and flings, while (not quite) dancing around the more vivid descriptions. And of course, from first awakening to most recent attachment, there’s a song for every relationship. Under a magenta glow, Händel takes centre stage in a glamorous ensemble of silver and glittery pink period attire, looking sort of like Shakespearean Barbie, if one exists. They bask in the audience’s attention, creating backstories and romantic tension with a few lucky individuals. While some songs are spicy originals, others are gorgeous renditions of famous songs about breakups: Händel is the lone star of their own life story for all to enjoy. This is Händel’s first Adelaide Fringe, and it’s a debut worth catching. Part opera, part pop, all comedy, Little Black Book has contacts worth looking up for all theatre lovers but, just like a ménage à trois, it’s not for the faint of heart.
