So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s ★★★★★

Local South Australian talents The Cast Entertainment are back at the Adelaide Fringe Festival this year bringing one of the best decades of music to the stage with So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s.

Cast your mind back to the turn of the century, the Sydney Olympics, the Y2K bug threatening our demise and some of the greatest music and artists of our generation – think Beyonce, Britney Spears, P!nk, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Nelly, the list goes on. So Fresh! Hits of the 2000s is really a 60 minute love letter and celebration of these fabulous artists and songs.

Fronted by Chloe Castledine and Winston Howard on vocals, we were also treated to a four piece band as well as four dancers to help amp up the audience. Not that the audience needed much encouragement, with two dedicated dance floor areas either side of the stage, much of the audience spent the entire show dancing away to the non-stop music that was simply hit after glorious hit!

Castledine’s vocals were impeccable; she was able to flawless transition from the big powerful numbers like “Lady Marmalade” to the more subdued and softer songs. One of the highlights of the show was when Castledine sat solely at the keyboard and performed a medley of Coldplay’s “Yellow”, Nelly Furtado’s “I’m Like a Bird”, Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles”, and Train’s “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)”.

The tight performance by the band as well at the outstanding choreography and costumes of the dancers really added to the entire professionalism of the show, making it seem like you should be watching it somewhere else than at The Virago at Gluttony!

Definitely a climax of the Fringe so far this year, if you are a child of the naughties be sure to check this one out. Just remember to wear your midriff top, cargo pants, studded belt and butterfly hair clips!
