Come one! Come all! Fly on down to the Lab at ILA for an hour of dance, music, and culture with Rio 40. Produced by the samba queen herself and one of the most talented dancers to grace the Adelaide Fringe, Talita Fontainha takes audiences on a journey of clapping, grooving, and everything in between.

Rio 40 features breathtaking styles of dancing and music, including latin dances like samba, malandro-styled samba, and salsa, as well as ballet and contemporary dance. The solo acts are flawless and the group choreography is perfectly in sync, utilising their space to its greatest capability. The performance is captured through the eyes of an Aussie tourist, looking to get the most out of his trip abroad. Through beautiful beaches, sizzling streets, and even the busy subway, the show shares sides of the Brazilian seaside city that not all audience members may be familiar with.

Although the bright lights and smooth moves paint an awe-inspiring picture of the city, the performance also highlights a much darker side of Rio De Janeiro. At its core, the show is more than feathers and glitter like the Carnival many come to associate with Rio, but rather a complex place of balance between chaos and life.

Boarding time is now! See Rio 40 before the end of the 2024 Fringe season!
