REVIEW: 007 VOICES OF BOND Regal Theatre 28/2/2024 As a self confessed Bond aficionado or expert, I had high expectations of this production by Night Owl Shows from the United Kingdom and I was not disappointed. The band consisting of a rhythm section; Bass, Drums, Guitar and a two piece horn section where the trumpet player doubled on keyboards and the sax player was the second principal vocalist. Commencing with Monty Norman's "James Bond Theme", I was immediately astounded at the accuracy of arrangements and sound. Whilst there was some pre recorded music layered underneath, the band were phenomenal from start to finish. Ella McCready entered the stage from the audience and was dazzling in a gold sequinned dress as she presented, "Diamonds are Forever" demonstrating immediately her vocal power and star quality. Saxaphone player and other principal Angas Monroe then crooned through "From Russia with Love". All the hits of Bond were on show including but not limited to; "Goldfinger", "Nobody does it better", "Thunderball", "Goldeneye", "Skyfall", "You only live twice" and even the Billie Eilish penned "No time to die". The dialogue, video production and introductions to each song by Angas and Ella provided context and detail to those that were not familiar with the material. In essence, "Voices of Bond", was a flawless example of amazing attention to detail by an expert production company. Producer Dan Clews company Night Owl Shows are a regular fixture of the Adelaide Fringe and we are so glad that they are here again. Both Ella McCready and Angas Monroe are remarkable singers in their own right and this is evidenced by the number of other shows in which they are principal vocalists this year at the fringe. Whatever your passion, Night Owl Shows have an event on this year at the Regal to suit your taste. If Voices of Bond is any indication of the sheer quality of Night Owl Shows, you should definitely see one or more of the many shows on offer by them at the Regal Theatre this year. Night Owls regularly collaborate with Kathryn McGowan PR and Events when in South Australia and her range of publicity skills ably assist in filling both the Regal Theatre and other venues in our State. I feared that they would not play Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" but it was saved for an encore that demanded applause long after the song ended. "007 Voices of Bond" left me feeling love of this wonderful music, admiration for an amazing show and still wanting to buy an Aston Martin. There are only 2 Bond shows left on 2 and 3 March at the Regal. This show provides the observer with an inside look at the secret world of James Bond through an impressive catalogue of music .
