Tommy Little brought his latest stand-up, "Tommy Little Has a Regular Size Deck," to the Adelaide Fringe, offering a unique blend of humour that left the audience in stitches .

From the get-go, the show made its mark with a strong start that might have caught some attendees off guard. Tommy's use of explicit language, starting in the first sentence and recurring very frequently throughout the set, could be a point of contention for some audiences. The comedian's bold approach may have added to the charm for some, but for others, it might have pushed the boundaries a bit too far.

The comedic timing, however, was undeniably hilarious, with Tommy delivering anecdote stories that, while random and unique, may have left some viewers feeling a bit disconnected as they weren’t exactly relatable. The personal stories about Tommy's pet dogs, his trip to Africa, and his involvement in a celebrity grand prix were amusing but may not have resonated as strongly with the crowd. The sexual jokes and references, though not vulgar or over the top, were present and might have caused some discomfort for those seeking a more restrained comedic experience.

The audience engagement was alright, with Tommy interacting mainly with the front row but opening up for questions towards the end, showcasing a good balance of performer-audience connection.

It seemed that the Adelaide audience might have needed a bit more convincing, as their reactions to Adelaide-based jokes or mentions were minimal. Despite the audience's overall enjoyment, Tommy had to work a bit harder for reactions in certain parts of the show. Nevertheless, his fantastic stage presence and light-hearted demeanour prevailed, creating a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.

For those conservative viewers seeking a comedy show that aligns more closely with traditional values, "Tommy Little Has a Regular Size Deck" may present a delicate balancing act. While the fantastic stage presence and light-hearted demeanour were evident, the explicit language and sexual themes might require a bit of caution for those with more conservative tastes.

In summary, approach this show with an awareness of its explicit language and occasional risqué content. "Tommy Little Has a Regular Size Deck" offers laughs aplenty, but it's a comedic experience that might not be a perfect match for those seeking a more family friendly brand of humour.

4/5 for coarse language

 3/5 for mature themes
