Delinquent Creatives led by the incomparable talents of Creative Director Fiona Smith, return to Fringe with Obsession. A groundbreaking dance/theatre experience that thrusts you into the intricate web of addiction in our modern world.

The show is a seamless fusion of movement, spoken word, physical theatre, and soundscape, that takes you on a riveting journey through the complexities of both chemical and behavioural dependencies. From the allure of social media and materialism to the struggles with substance abuse and body image, the show ambitiously tackles a spectrum of addictive behaviours.

Each cast member is 100% committed to their character with their transformative performances, oscillating between contentment and euphoria to moments of destruction and consumption. This is complemented by a soundtrack that enhances your emotions as you grapple with the sometimes-confronting material. This multifaceted exploration is mesmerizing and truly challenges you to confront the different faces of addiction that permeate our lives.

Fiona’s performance is exemplary, it is evident her passion and experience about the subject matter are deeply personal and this connection has produced a magnificently dark but thought-provoking piece of work.

One line in the show stuck with me well after its conclusion, “the cure to addiction isn’t sobriety, it’s connection.” It’s hauntingly real and just one example that this show was written from a very raw and personal experience.

Watching this show made me feel like I was witnessing a therapy session, where the boundaries of addiction are probed and perceptions are challenged. You should brace yourself for a powerful reminder of the pervasive and complex issues that touch us all, as this production invites you to question and reflect on your own relationships with the addictive realities of the modern era.
