What are the Marion Hotel Sunday Sessions?
A delightful showcase of comedians hosted by the wonderful host Lindsay Webb to keep you entertained between sets.
For the last three years their shows have sold out at the Adelaide Fringe, and it is little wonder as to why. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the line up is a mix of local, national and international comedians. As such, each session offers a perfect blend of humour to keep you entertained. There were six comedians in the show I attended, which is more than in previous years.
The ultimate benefit for guests attending the show is the opportunity to discover new comedic talent and find performers they truly enjoy. Many of the comedians featured also have their own shows at the Adelaide Fringe.
The afternoon started with laughs from the UK then moved closer to home. We had originally-from-Radelaide Thomas Green who now resides in the UK and has a very enthusiastic stage presence. In comparison was the more relaxed pace of Bronwyn Kuss. The evening concluded with Dave Thornton whose hilarity was very relatable as he compared parenting in the modern era to parenting of those that grew up in the 80s and 90s. These three comedians, along with the talented host Lindsay Webb, have their own solo shows at the Fringe, allowing us guests to follow up further with our favourite acts.
The sequencing of the comedians was quite smooth. Initially bought onstage the stand-up sets had much audience participation and the quick-witted comedian onstage to match; after the break were the more narrative style comedians.
By attending these events, guests not only enjoy a night of laughter but also support the thriving local comedy scene. The Adelaide Comedy group plays a crucial role in nurturing local talent and fostering connections between comedians both locally and internationally.
