I have a confession to make: I think I may be addicted to bubbles. I don’t think it would even matter if it was the same show over and over again. There is something about these soapy, circular, air-filled constructs that just hypnotises me when I see them. Thankfully, for all of us Bubble Laboratory fans, Dr. Bubble and Milkshake bring a completely new show to the Adelaide Fringe every year, and 2024 is no different. This time they’re heading into outer space, and with Milkshake in control, you’re in for a popping good time!

With a fun, engrossing kids show like this one, safety is always important. Dr. Bubbles and Milkshake go out of their way to explain to the many screaming children in the audience not to run on stage or chase the bubbles. I’m guessing it must have happened once or twice before! After that, the bubble-filled chaos ensues as Milkshake sees a star in the sky and wants to catch it. I could be here all day trying to explain just how marvellous it was to see all the bubble creations, But I’ll just say, I was just as amazed as the kids in the audience as I watched a rocket bubble take flight, a fire bubble light up the stage and a space helmet bubble come to life. No spoilers here, you’ll just have to see it for yourself.

Along this fantastical voyage, we also bump into an old friend in Mini-Milkshake, and this time she’s brought along a couple of friends with her. What I particularly loved was the crowd interaction with this kids bubble show. Not only is the performance itself like a pantomime, with children yelling out what the performers should do, but three lucky audience members also get brought up on stage. This time around three kids got their own bubble hairstyles along with being placed in their own unique bubble.

Bubble Laboratory’s Bubble Show never disappoints, and I think the Bubble Show in Space may be the best one yet. Not only do they reach for the stars, but they’ve managed to grab five of them off seedoetreview. Enjoy!
