Maho Magic Bar ★★★★☆

Maho Magic Bar is back in Adelaide this year, bringing a taste of Tokyo Japan and all things kawaii to our very own backyard!

In its fourth season at Adelaide Fringe, Maho Magic Bar keeps things fresh with new magicians and illusionists, new tricks and most importantly new cocktails!

Hosted by charismatic ringmaster Sho Chan, the premise of Maho Magic Bar is to amaze audiences with up close interactive magic from a variety of different magicians. This year we see the likes of Shirayuri (the stylish mixologist), Kaori Kitazawa (Harajuku princess of illusion), Wambi (sleight of hand superstar), and Shunji (master of eye popping Edo-style illusion) – each showcasing their own unique style and flair.

As you enter the venue you’re probably more than likely wondering what you got yourself into. Despite the bright exterior, inside we have a dark and dingy (but still somehow sophisticated) bar. The performers move around to each table, so you get to witness magic from each of the stars over the course of the show.

Nothing quite beats seeing magic and illusion performed up close in front of you. As an audience member you are also very much part of the show, able to examine items, pick cards and ask the performers questions.

There is also a “special” drinks menu, so order off that and you might get to see some pretty wild tricks performed!

From elaborate and polished card tricks, magic baseballs, flammable objects, fork bending, and disappearing lunch spreads, there truly is something here for everyone to enjoy.

Part spectacle, part bar, part magic but a whole lot of entertainment! This is one rambunctious show for all to enjoy. Leave reality at the door and be transported into another world of cherry blossoms, sake, wonderment and joy as you step into a dark corner of Toyko right in the heart of Adelaide.
