Well it certainly was an absolute riot of a show!

Songstress, actress, vaudevillian, and general all-rounder Elizabeth Dawson-Smith aka Miss Friby (who is also a former Australia's Got Talent finalist) has come back to Adelaide with her show Absolute Riot that mostly does justice to its name. Giving audiences an hour of acts that begin quite tame and subtle and end on a chaotic note, Absolute Riot will push people so far out of their comfort zone that they will leave the show with a newfound appreciation for a world of utter madness and riveting riotous moments.

Accompanied by her loyal companion played by her partner Stuart Atkin, the sequin-clad Miss Friby presents to her audience a truly unique form of cabaret, where she holds no reservations in exploring several avenues that would warrant a riot. Mixing a range of entertainment acts including slapstick comedy, colourful cabaret, insane dance forms and clown-esque improvisation, this is a variety show that will shock and surprise at the most unpredictable of times. Let's also not forget about the expanded range of vocal talent (up to the Amy Winehouse caliber) with which Miss Friby is able to encapsulate her audiences, we are treated to a sensual yet sultry lyrical performance that is individualised to fit the frantic non-linear narrative of the show.

While it felt like a roller coaster that would abruptly stop at unplanned intervals and required a bit of effort to pick up the pace, with a few tweaks and finessing in the form of timely delivery of the punchlines, and improved synchronization with the music, the show possesses potential to nail the vibe of a quintessential Fringe show.
