Club Queens ★★★★★

Whether you’re looking to end your night with a bang, or maybe you’re night is about to begin and you want to start it off on a high, then this is the variety show for you!

Club Queens truly is like a lucky dip, every night there are different performers and host – so there is surely something to please everyone’s taste.
The show itself hosts performers from all different genres – cabaret, burlesque, circus acts, comedy and music, each giving the audience a delicious morsel of their own show. It’s a good tasting platter to see if you might actually like to go to other performances these artists have on offer.

The venue, The Chamber at THE QUEENS , is also quite remarkable being the oldest intact theatre in mainland Australia built in 1840. It oozes rustic charm and is the perfect venue for the show.

For tonight’s performance we have Amelia Ryan, talented cabaret artist bedazzling us on host duties.
This particular performance is a celebration of upcoming International Women’s Day, where we have a star studded line-up of inspirational and powerful female artists gracing the stage.

Johanna Allen takes us on a journey to the salon houses of Paris with her breathy rendition of the Katy Perry song “I Kissed a Girl” (for more of Johanna Allen see her in Euromash).

Next up we have Melbourne based cabaret starlet, cat lover and wine connoisseur Tash York, who helps us devise a five year life plan in these troubled times with the assistance Matthew Hadgraft on piano and of course the audience! The improvisation of the two of them is incredible and definitely worth watching. You can also catch them both in Tash York and the Red Wines: Trash Talk.
If cabaret isn’t enough for you, how about cabaret served with a side of grilled meat or sourdough bread? Michelle Pearson is not only a distinguished cabaret singer but also works as a cook, caterer and events manager. Her performance is definitely one to set mouths watering (for more, go and see Comfort Food Cabaret).

Libby Donovan stuns us with her powerhouse vocals in an amazing rendition of “It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World” (see Libby Donovan and Amelia Ryan in UNSUNG). She is also later joined on stage with surprise performer Beccy Cole – who we hear was prised on stage with promises of rosĂ©!
Anything can and does happen at Club Queens! It’s easy to see why this has become an absolute staple for Fringe goers.
