Looking for a bit of an ego boost? Or a chance to boost two egos at once? Attention Seekers might be just what you need!

Veteran cabaret queens Tash York and Dolly Diamond are famous on the Fringe circuit for their cheeky mix of cabaret and drag comedy, and their show Attention Seekers is nothing short of wholesome, sassy fun.

Tash and Dolly’s wonderful camaraderie and chemistry is on full display as they treat us to a show based around their love of attention and the wild world of showbiz. Both performers have ample opportunity to show off their impressive musical and theatrical talents. Tash has a spectacular vocal range and uses it to hit some wonderfully high notes. Dolly is charming and sultry with her earthy renditions of classic show tunes and hilarious physical comedy. The pair’s costumes are appropriately loud and glamorous in their excess and copious amounts of glitter, making it practically impossible to look away (although why would you want to, really?)

Attention seekers they may be, but Tash and Dolly aren’t afraid to share the spotlight with their audiences. A couple of lucky members are treated to Tash’s musical improvisation using a few simple personal cues, and Dolly gets up close and personal as she playfully interrogates her front row attendees. Quick quips and sharp-tongued innuendo abound, and there’s rarely a spare moment when the two aren’t getting raucous laughs from the audience.

It’s clear from the level of control and their ability to hold the audience gazes captive, both queens are at the top of their game as comedic entertainers. And contrary to the name of the show, this is no petty display of indulgent narcissism. Rather, Tash and Dolly openly share their personal journeys and their sincere desire to entertain and connect through their performance art. And they extend that sincerity in a call for compassion and decency towards the end of the show as they perform a musical send up of transphobic bigotry and intolerance.

Attention Seekers is undeniable fun and a must for anyone who is yet to experience Tash and Dolly’s charms. Impossible to look away from - which is very much a mission accomplished.
