Dolly Diamond and Tash York : Attention Seekers ★★★★☆ Two of our favourite award winning #AdelaideFringe cabaret veterans have snuck into the festival (definitely not unnoticed!) for the final week, each equally hilarious and each vying for your attention in their show Attention Seekers. Have you ever found yourself the centre of attention like York and Diamond? In all likelihood it’s probably not your fault as #TashYork explains – you’re more than likely an “attention receiver” as opposed to an “attention seeker”! This all makes complete sense now! Strap yourself in for an hour of drag comedy cabaret – shabby chic costumes and tongue in cheek song lyrics with a splash of self-depreciation. The perfect recipe to keep you in stitches for the duration! Some numbers are performed together and some are performed individually. Whilst they are exceptional individually (York really shows off her #improv skills making up a song on the spot about an audience member!), it is when they perform together that the show truly shines. York and Diamond’s voices are the perfect complement to each other – York with her strong powerhouse vocals and #DollyDiamond with the breathiness of Marilyn Monroe. You couldn’t get more worlds apart, and yet somehow together they are perfection. York also gets to show off her extensive wig collection as well as her ability to impersonate a number of divas in her rendition of “The Winner Takes it All” – definitely a show highlight! This performance completely warrants your undivided attention! Fingers crossed for a return to Adelaide Fringe 2024!
