Anyone who has seen a Tracy Crisp show will tell you she has a relaxed, self-depreciating form of comedy that invites you into her world. In this production she takes a long hard look at raising children and, more to the point, letting them go. Amongst the trappings of the birthday cake she is making for her 18-year-old son, the last she will need to make, Tracy reminisces about the years she has spent raising her boys, the problems, the joys and usual guilt that motherhood contains.

Told on her simple set containing kitchen basics and a Birthday Cake cookbook, Tracy’s anecdotes are amusing and revealing. She doesn’t paint herself as a super-mum but the overall impression is that the problems and the pain are unimportant, the wonder is in the result.

This is a heart-warming and pleasant way to spend an hour.
