You are a loser. Repeat after me: you are a loser. Lawrence Mooney opens his 2023 Fringe show with the audience repeating this mantra, and it’s the perfect setup for the show that follows. With laugh after laugh, it really is a show not to be missed this Fringe. We are treated to an hour of Lawrence’s unique and insightful examination of the world of life coaches, gurus and influencers. As the audience enters the venue, inspirational music is playing with a pre-record of Lawrence spouting motivational catch-phrases, such as “you do you”, “It is never too late to be what you might have been”.  With the aid of a giant flip pad, Lawrence treats the audience to his insights to the world of motivational speakers and takes us through his own motivational thoughts. He breaks the performance into something like chapters in a book, marking each segment with a label on his flip pad.  Lawrence is a master of comedic timing. He knows how to land a punchline in just the right way to keep the audience engaged and constantly laughing. This is a well executed show and it highlights why Lawrence is one of the best in the industry. Throw out all your other self help books, stop following the latest fad diet and life-styles, and instead get a ticket to see the Guru Lawrence Mooney.
