“Club Freak Out” is a high-energy show that delivers on its promises of excitement. With a dynamic mix of genres, and Adidas, this show keeps you engaged from beginning to end. From the start, the audience was enthralled by the skill and unwavering energy of the performers. Not once did they show any signs of fatigue, which is no small feat considering the demanding nature of their routines. The last solo performance was quite literally gravity defying and my joints ache thinking about it. While the format and performances were what you might expect for this type of show, there were still several surprises that kept the audience on their toes. The use of fire and ink stood out. One of the performances caught us completely off guard and it left us thoroughly amazed. This performer’s creativity and appetite for risk was truly laudable. A critical aspect of the show that needs to be commended was the host’s continuous barrage of humour, which tended heavily towards the foulmouthed and the use of graphic imagery; both of which appealed to me greatly. Not only was the officially designated Gay Prince of Perth funny, but Flynn was engaging. He seemed to have a natural ability to keep the audience engaged. There was a moment when audience members were asked to perform their own little routines, and I think I will remember for some time the loveable Brenda dancing on stage with her green leopard-print cardigan and taking home the prize. I would highly recommend “Club Freak Out” to anyone looking for a fun and entertaining night out. If you’re looking for a cabaret/drag show that delivers in value, “Club Freak Out” is worth checking out.
