Women Like Us is a comedy that touches on subjects too often ignored or spoken in hushed tones. Can you say Menopause? Again, loudly this time. Well, Ellen Briggs and Mandy Nolan certainly do.
The room was full of, majorly women, with one good-humoured male thrown in the mix. He was cleverly hiding in amongst us all. Yes, he had a few comedic jabs thrown his way, and yes, the room full of women found them hilarious.
The ladies joke about things like the change in erogenous zones during, you know, the M word, standing in the last Federal election, teenagers and the supposed uneventful life of a mother and a wife.
After continuously laughing for 60 minutes while the ladies took to the stage, there is nothing uneventful about a mother's life, and quite frankly, I can change the word mother to parent.
I recommend grabbing yourself a drink while waiting for the magic doors of the theatre to open and taking it with you. The show feels like you're sitting with your besties and laughing at all the things we women laugh at when we're with others in our circle, although this circle is much larger, and the one-liners come at you thick and fast. No sooner had I finished laughing at one joke than another came at the audience, and with it, a chorus of women hilariously shrieking, and some nodding their heads or was that just me?
I found the cleverly entertaining stories the ladies told us relatable, as many parents would.
