Garry has been performing in the Top End (Darwin) Comedy scene since 2018 and Too Much Mouth is the first time he has brought his show to Adelaide. As I quite enjoyed this show, it will be good to see how this budding comedian progresses beyond his local scene. Performing at the Strathmore hotel, it was convenient to get to, and his show is suitable for adults, couples, and families alike. The latter audience is often a hard aspect to capture for comedians whose humour is anecdotally based, however I could definitely have bought my teenagers along. With a simple set, O’Sullivan uses a microphone for audio, and no props. He covers multiple topics such as parenting, riding his bike in Darwin, online comments on conspiracy theories, being a bogan, and navigating illness. His comedy is well thought out and smoothly delivered. It is not off the cuff humour so there is no need to worry about where you are seated, or that you will become part of the show. As an audience you can just sit back, relax and enjoy. However, if you prefer the style of comedy where the audience is involved, you may not enjoy the show as much despite the strong wit of his humour. An excellent after dinner show, and being held at the Strathmore, you can eat, drink and catch the train home afterwards, making for a brilliant Fringe evening.
