In what seems like a stroke of genius, Fringe show ‘A Lunchtime MBA’ combines the concept of a business lunch (I mean we all have someone we need to take out for a catch up right?), an entertaining Fringe show, and a much sought-after qualification, and delivers all three with resounding success.

I have to admit, when my husband and I went along to this show, I had no idea what to expect, but we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I’d happily recommend it.

With this show, you have the option to head along an hour before things officially kick off, where you’re able to enjoy a delightful lunch in the glamorous dining room at Treasury 1860. If you haven’t been here lately, this alone is worth the trip. There’s a selection of dishes you can choose from which are included in the $50 lunch and show ticket, and of course the bar will also happily take your money if you want to indulge in a cheeky lunchtime vino.

So once you’re properly settled, and fed, the show begins. While the show starts a little slowly with a scripted introduction from Professor Longsword’s offsider, once he takes to the stage, things really get rolling.

Professor Longsword delivers a satirical lecture which is highly entertaining, integrating many topical news references, political scandals, and other subjects, which depending on the reference, managed to always get a laugh, as different audience members picked up on the mentions. The sexual innuendoes are also brilliantly woven through the show and delivered straight-faced, in a low-key, subtle manner, so if you’re not paying attention, you might miss them.

Using an intelligent play on many aspects of the much sought-after MBA, the show offers insight into what the MBA is all about, while ‘educating’ the audience, who ultimately achieve a 1-hour MBA just by attending the show. You even leave with your own MBA certificate from The MBA School Of MBA Credentials.

Professor Longsword delivers this show in a brilliant, seamless fashion, and his melodic voice and intelligence kept us captivated for the duration of the show.

If you’re after daytime entertainment, with some intelligence thrown in, this is a great show to check out.
