In association with Ketchup Production and Richard Jordan Productions, Holden Street Theatre's Edinburgh Fringe Award '22 is providing Adelaide with a captivating, yet darkly comical story of Daniel, who has returned to his deserted family home to celebrate Mother's Day. Written and directed by Philip Stokes, the show is sustained and solely performed by Jack Stokes as Daniel, sharing his life from the moment when a church excursion brings him to the concert of Yorkshire singer Jane MacDonald. Reminiscent of an obsession found only on Stan Twitter, Jane replaces Jesus in both his and his mothers life; their obsession with the star finally able to begin to mend their relationship, filling voids of loneliness and neglect until Jane is ripped from them one fateful day. A visceral meditation on the lingering and damaging consequences of isolation and rejection, Jesus, Jane, Mother and Me is an immersive experience that will evoke mass empathy and care for a boy you have only just met.
