Up for a round of high energy bingo? At Bogan Bingo, the eyes may be down - but eyebrows will be raised (to say the least) in this hilarious interpretation of one of Australia’s favourite games.

Back for 13th straight Fringe Festival season, be prepared to rock out and have your idea of bingo turned on its head. Bogan Bingo is an immersive experience injected with bawdy bogan-ism’s – some of which will have you in stitches while others will take your breath away. Meanwhile, classic snippets of bogan rock classics played at an obnoxiously high bogan-level volume will have your head nodding and feet tapping throughout the show.

Described as ‘half game show, half party’, Wayno and Damo lead the proceedings with a fervor that appears to be born out of not knowing any better, which is a good thing. Who doesn’t love a bit of mindless fun? You’ll probably get through a couple of rounds of bingo as the boys pace the show nicely alongside fun bits like an air guitar competition and a few ‘get to know each other’ party games.

The room at the Rob Roy Hotel is the perfect venue. It reminded me of raucous country birthday bashes or being in beer-fueled Bali – the ultimate bogan destination. The noise and the shouts of the completely under dressed crowd prompted more than a few heads to pop in the door to see what all the fuss was about.

It’s not often that you get to wear your Bintang singlet or your Ugg boots to a Fringe show. I say go for gold on this one, the more bogan the better. Let your hair hang down and enjoy the ride. Be warned, the music is loud, the dress code is loose, and the language is filthy. Bring a group and have fun learning a thing or two about your mates you may not have known. See if you can outdo each other as the biggest bogan around. Ticket prices are also reasonable – not much more than the price of a six-pack of West End Draught cans.

Bogan Bingo goes hard at the Rob Roy Hotel on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights until the 18th March 2023.
