Babies and children are allowed to explore the space and enjoy the delightful colours and objects on offer from the moment they step inside the tent. The lead actress warmly welcomes all into the tent and continues to interact with the children as they take seats anywhere in the venue. She is warm, energetic, and expressive, and maintains this throughout the entire show.
There isn’t much on offer at the fringe for small babies, so Last Dodo Entertainment has created a fun, bright, sensory experience for children and families, which is a perfect addition to the fringe. There are soft cuddly puppets, rainbow lights, projections, kites, shadow puppets, songs and of course bubbles to delight and amaze the audiences.
Sometimes, with children’s shows, there is a lull between changing elements, from puppets to lights, between songs, or in a costume change, however the creators of Bubba-Licious have made every effort to remove any lag, and make sure that each element of the show moves quickly into the next. The small segments of content are each well-paced, and no section is too long or too short.
The team has effectively used the space, having kites drop down from the ceiling, lights projected on the roof and with audiences on the floor in front there is a intimacy that helps the engagement with the content.
The only thing that could make this show even more exceptional would be a more linear story line throughout the show. While small sections seemed to connect to each other, there were times where it jumped and didn’t seem to connect to the previous section.
You will need to hurry to secure some of the last seats, as most sessions are already sold out.
