If you don’t mind a healthy dose of nether regions in your face, sit in the front row. If you’d rather be a couple metres away from fire, sit in the back row.

The Delinquents’ cast brings together a slew of award-winning artists and skilled performers: Fiona Smith, Emile Ryjoch, Eliza Dickson, Georgia Rose, Sarah Wilson, Ina Young, and Laura Golding.

Together, the septettes have their sight on delivering shows which portrays behind-the-scenes of the cabaret world set in Prohibition London, giving audiences a taste beyond the glitz and glamour of these London misfits.

Through the medium of acting, live music, vocals, dance, circus, aerial, acrobatics, and fire, the intimate, circular Ukiyo tent in the Adelaide Fringe’s Gluttony site transforms into a low-lit, mysterious society.

Individually, each artist is certainly talented. As a whole, The Delinquents is a bit of a variety show with a subtle storyline of a crush between two performers.

Although the London Prohibition era theme isn’t entirely strong, expect to hear some well-known tunes like Nick Cave’s Red Right Hand which has recently resurfaced thanks to Netflix series, Peaky Blinders infamously set in Birmingham, England.

One of the late night audience members said, “It was enjoyable. I liked the atmospheric behind-the-scenes going ons, and the likeable characters who were very entertaining.”

While another extremely enthusiastic attendee simply couldn’t hold her excitement back throughout the performance, shouting “You’re incredible.” Ten-out-of-ten hype queen.

The after-dark act is brought to us by Delinquent Creatives, a local, female-run production and entertainment company supporting equality and empowerment, led by creative director, Fiona Smith and assistant producer, Ina Young.

The Delinquents will be showing on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 February, and Friday 3 and Saturday 4 March at 11:20pm in Gluttony’s Ukiyo venue.
