English lad Andrew Silverwood is no stranger to the Adelaide Fringe realm - with a sense of humour that is enviable and wit that is sharp enough to cut through glass, Silverwood was born for stand-up comedy. His ability to reel in his intimate crowd into a solid hour of silly and funny content makes you wish you could make an awkward atmosphere work to your advantage as seamlessly.

The core of the show revolves around everyday observations that Silverwood has picked up along the way over the last three years, whilst unintentionally becoming a resident of Australia thanks to the world's most-uttered 'c' word (no, not that one, you filthy soul!). While the topics themselves might be ordinary and borderline awkward, Silverwood's comedic spin through his innate sense (not to mention heritage) of English humour of thriving in uncomfortable situations leaves the audiences in stitches. He balances the art of self deprecating humour with his non-linear narrative around his journey of integrating into the Australian way of living, which shapes this show to be a thoroughly entertaining and joyful experience. Everything from the way people drive with their headlights on during the day to his chiropractor who details weird details about him as a patient to the level of security at Adelaide Airport being up to some kind of standard is unpacked in this show, in addition to discussing spontaneous conversations that pop up during the show thanks to some input from his audiences and (occasionally) the fauna within the venue.

There is a level of interactivity (with consent, of course!), where Silverwood will playfully pick on members in his audience but in a way that is both endearing and clever. It could be about the energy that they are giving off or the general vibe of a group who might get a bit too rowdy. But Silverwood's charisma and ability to think on the spot effortlessly shines through, as he delivers zingers that make you go "how did he come up with that so quickly?".

Andrew Silverwood is one to watch out for, because he is destined to be a staple of the stand-up comedy scene in Australia and beyond. He might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is exactly why Silverwood being unapologetically himself will make you want to give him a red hot go.
