Wonderful – A celebration of Stevie Wonder – The Cast 10/03/2022 – Arts Theatre, Angas Street Adelaide Stevie Wonder is a musical icon that has been the backdrop of generations. Wonder has produced so many hits it is a real wonder that there has been no biopic to present his life story to the public. Wonderful definitely tells a musical story of Stevie. The Cast led by the masterful Chloe Castledine presented over an hour of musical and visually stunning entertainment. It must have been so difficult to pick the material with such a plethora of Stevie Wonder music to choose from. The 16 piece Cast Band opened the evening with an overture featuring a live artist painting on canvas, a beautifully presented string quartet and a massive pair of hanging Stevie Wonder Sunglasses. Chloe Castledine, the leader of the Cast, sang with passion and directed a path through the wealth of material that is, Wonderful. There was an energy on stage that had the audience just wanting to get up and dance from beginning to end. Chloe strikingly dressed in a Vegas style black sequined suit, could have carried the show vocally on her own but unselfishly chose to have some outstanding guest artists and 3 backup singers joining her and the Cast on this occasion. Brian Ruiz, so well known in the Adelaide music scene, vocally soared through groovy songs such as ‘I wish” and “Boogie on Reggae Woman.” Henry Olonga former contestant on “The Voice”, sang one of the shows highlights, Tony Bennett version of “For Once in My Life”, also “Sunshine of My Life”and “Ribbon in the Sky” where two gorgeous and talented dancers added colour and texture in red costume and ribbons. There was a great touch with Stevie Wonder on screen playing the 1973 track “Living for the City” and the band joining in live for the chorus. It is hard to pick what to love about this performance because there was so much to choose from. The brilliant musical arrangements of young genius David Goodwin (piano and harmonica) and the talent of Chloe and her Cast drove the audience to their feet throughout the night to an eventual standing ovation. Wonderful is an Adelaide produced show in our fringe with all Adelaide musicians. The Cast is currently one of the finest corporate show bands in the country. Chloe and the Cast have stepped away from being a band to putting on more of an event in “Wonderful”. Finishing with “As.” and “Don’t you worry bout a thing” I was left wanting to hear more and like the audience, clapped on my feet until they left the stage. Wonderful has great visual effects, a youthful and extremely talented group of musicians presenting some of the music and story that is Stevie Wonder. The tickets are absolutely worth the price. With only two shows left tonight and Saturday get your group together now and see it. The Cast in this performance will surely leave you feeling “Wonderful”. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars #ADLFringe #thecastentertainment Reviewer – Stephen Foenander Adelaide Review Team Book now: https://adelaidefringe.com.au/.../wonderfull-a...
