Tripod at The Garden of Unearthly Delights Review

For twenty five years, the trio of Scod, Yon and Gatesy have traversed the national and international comedy circuit. In 2021 though, the three headed musical comedy troupe was mostly locked-down in Melbourne.

While isolating at home, the Tripod boys didn't learn to bake sourdough bread or piece together jigsaw puzzles; they cooked up new satirical anthems and weaved them together for their first public performances since last year's Fringe.

As the global pandemic enters its third year and as war returns to Europe, it's not the easiest time to have a laugh or make jokes, but it's the time when having a laugh is more important than ever. Tripod again demonstrate that they can make anything funny: nuclear meltdowns, white supremacy, even becoming middle aged. Expect mostly new tunes, including "Yon Watches Chernobyl: the Musical" and "Why Buy Tickets To A Show When It Could Be Cancelled?", and maybe an old favourite by request for an encore.

In 2022, Tripod's satire is still a weapon and their comedy is a medicine.
