Come one! Come all! You’re invited to an astounding display of dance and acrobats in A Carnaval Dream. Immerse yourself in a colourful blend of Latino music and pop songs that you can’t help but shimmy in your seat to. Choreographed by the amazing Talita “Dance Queen” Fontainha, audiences are sure to be booking dance lessons or flights to Rio after watching the show!

You may not see this show in the Fringe magazines as it was only brought together under two months ago, but this show is sure to amaze every audience. Bringing together performers from La Bomba, BrasilLatino, Cirkidz, Escola de samba Adelaide and The Queen Factory, the show blends together different forms of dance to truly give Adelaideians a taste of what Carnaval is all about. Between the amazing live singing, mesmerising dancing and outstanding body contortion, audiences are astonished from the first beat.

An interview with Samba Royalty (The brilliant Talita Fontainha and amazingly talented Julio Cesar Angulo) revealed the true aim for the show, this being to make audiences ask, “What the F@#k?”. And not going to lie to you, I was kind of fangirling over talking to such incredible dancers, with Talita choreographing several Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, and Julio gaining a well-known reputation as one of the best Malandro samba dancers in Australia. As dancers emerge from behind the rows of seats and up on stage, heads swivel back and forth, leaving many audience members indeed wondering, “What the F@#k?”.

I found myself constantly smiling under my mask and shimmying like crazy to some of the best-remixed songs and outstanding choreography. The show really captures the essence of Carnaval, not only with the remarkable performance but in the dynamic nature of the show, really telling of how some things in life don’t need words. This was especially evident in the focal character of an Australian tourist used to tell the story. As such, audiences can’t help but empathise with his wonder and awe at the amazing dancers and vibrant costumes.

Go out and get your tickets now because they’re selling faster than a samba dancer’s steps! Whether you’re new to the Latin dance scene or an experienced veteran, this show is sure to bring you a taste of A Carnaval Dream.
