Jacques et Madeleine by Les Flâneurs Volants
Jacques sans Madeleine but in her place a sextet of musicians each of whom is formidable - as French connoisseurs might say. Les Flaneurs Volants latest show includes projected lyric translations to render it comprehensible to us French deprived anglophones. Fine musicianship is what makes this fluff à la française satisfying, while the story line of the piece is pleasantly daft and inconsequential. Amiable front man Jacques sings with talent and passion, offering plenty of ironic francophone clichés, while his body language sends up the whole genre too. The audience loved it.
