Jacques et Madeleine by Les Flâneurs Volants

Jacques sans  Madeleine but in her place a sextet of musicians each of whom is formidable - as French connoisseurs might say. Les Flaneurs Volants latest show includes projected lyric translations to render it comprehensible to us French deprived anglophones. Fine musicianship is what makes this fluff Ă  la française satisfying, while the story line of the piece is pleasantly daft and inconsequential. Amiable front man Jacques sings with talent and passion, offering plenty of ironic francophone clichĂ©s, while his body language sends up the whole genre too. The audience loved it.
