Sultry, stylish and slick, Cab Suave is a clever meld of circus and cabaret presented in a shadowy Sam Spade world. The slim, but fun, storyline from Brisbane based Sparkle Society, sees private eye Dick Johnson investigating the sketchy activities of a nightclub run by four fabulously talented, flirty, queer gals. All the high skills of the circus of acrobatics, fire eating, juggling, high trapeze and hula-hoop whirring are on display. Interspersed there is live music and songstress Laney Mejias to welcome in the cabaret with a mellifluous voice that could charm hummingbirds. MC Jack Wilde as the gumshoe would be more gum-on-shoe with any more tacky dick jokes but his swank and swagger are exceeded only by his own spectacular juggling and balancing act. The tag “made for adults” but “suitable for all ages” is probably not true for all families so the PG rating is appropriate. For anyone happy to leave their hang-ups at the door, Cab Suave will impress and thoroughly entertain.
