Social Staples
A contemporary circus work featuring pantry staples to mirror the fundamental elements of contemporary Australian society.
After looking inside everyday Australian pantries, you may find more than you had expected.
Six diverse young acrobats move through a variety of abstract and playful encounters involving common pantry items, encouraging the audience to examine distribution of wealth, gender equality, and the relevance of cultural heritage in developing societies. 'Social Staples' takes a closer look at the expiry date.
Join us as we explore humanity, society, and everything but the kitchen sink.

Presented by: Na Djinang Circus
Na Djinang Circus is a Melbourne based circus company working with diverse young artists to share unique insight with the next generation's Hands & Feet.
Founded by Waka Waka man Harley Mann, Na Djinang Circus aims to develop work that utilises the next generation's social and political attitudes and create work to challenge our own perceived ideas about contemporary Australian society.
With our work we hope to explore novel ways of presenting circus that is accessible for both frequent circus audiences and all members of the community.
As we grow, we hope to turn our company into a social enterprise and engage with community through our work and other community engagement opportunities.
Harley has been working closely with emerging queer producer Matt Hirst to expand our reach.
