Everyone knows someone who has had an abortion or lost a pregnancy, even if they don’t talk about it. In 2016, playwright Emily Steel had a termination after her baby was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. This is her story, told honestly and publicly, because there are so many more stories out there.
Come sit by the pool, put your feet in the water and listen. Directed by Daisy Brown and performed by Tiffany Lyndall Knight, 19 weeks aims to create a space where we can be more open with each other and feel less alone in our experiences.

Emily Steel (playwright) has won Fringe awards for Rocket Town and Sepia, adapted Volpone for State Theatre Company of South Australia, developed new work with ActNow and Polygraph Collective, written for BBC radio drama, taught playwriting at Adelaide College of the Arts and worked with Company AT and Tutti. Daisy Brown (director) has directed productions in the Adelaide Festival, Cabaret Festival, Come Out, Adelaide Fringe and Feast Festival, and won the Best Ensemble Green Room award for Mützenball at Melbourne's Midsumma Festival. Astrid Pill (performer) has worked with Restless Dance, The Border Project, Vitalstatistix and Patch Theatre. She has won an Adelaide Critics Circle award and a Fringe award, and helped create two Helpmann award-winning productions with Patch. Emily and Daisy have been developing Emily’s new play Rabbits through Adelaide Festival Centre's inSPACE program and State Theatre Company's R&D - Rabbits will be STCSA’s 2017 Umbrella production.
