It definitely started slow. And there’s only so many times I can see the same characters take their clothes off, no matter how well they do it. However, it was still a riot. Cobbling together some of the best and most adult bits from the movies, no grown-up joke or gumdrop button was left unturned. If you want to see Lord Farquaad finally become a (drag) king and tease the audience to the tune of ‘Heads Will Roll’, this show will not disappoint. If, like the row of middle-aged men in front of me had clearly assumed, you are there to watch Shrek snort and fart his way around the stage, you will be disappointed. This is a show to enter with an open heart, mind, and mouth. Plus BeBe Gunn as the Dragon will make you laugh so hard you fall off your seat.
