Prepare to be wowed by pure strength and athleticism, as WONDER brings circus at its most classic to Adelaide. With crowd participation mandatory, not voluntary, this show will set your Fringe night up right. Cast your mind back to a time when audiences ogled at the strong man, gasped at the contortionist, and whistled at the burlesque dancer: this show slams you right back there. Most of the acts provide some true heart-in-throat moments, most notably the contortionist single-footedly popping a balloon with a bow and arrow and the strong man catching a bowling ball with his neck. The space in the Spiegeltent is brilliantly used to its full capacity, and everyone is involved in the fun. The crowd is then whisked outside to witness the nerve-racking tightrope act, but there’s never any doubt that you are not in safe hands. Teething problems with the tech will no doubt soon be rectified, and this show will only get better as it beds in, so let the cast of WONDER take you back to a simpler, more fun time, with a dose of highly entertaining old-time circus.
