A motion-blurred photograph of a dancer in a soft teal dress moving gracefully against a dark background. The long exposure creates layered, ghostlike trails of the dancer’s arms and body, suggesting fluid motion and emotional intensity. The image has a dreamlike, painterly quality with streaks of light and shifting shadows.
A performer in a cream-colored dress twirls under stage lights, her skirt flaring as she moves. Behind her stands an easel with a canvas painted in bright vertical stripes of red, orange, yellow, and green. The stage floor is covered with a white sheet, and the background is dark, drawing focus to the dancer and the vibrant artwork.
A performer stands smiling on stage in a cream dress and rainbow headband, one hand resting on her cheek. Behind her is a brightly painted canvas with orange, yellow, and green stripes. The text beside her reads: “Best in Theatre Nominee – Sydney Fringe Festival” in bold pink lettering. The stage is lit with soft blue and purple light against a dark curtain backdrop.

SPECTRUM

Part spoken word & part movement theatre, SPECTRUM is an award nominated, 50 solo show based on Jess’s own lived experience of neurodivergence. Spectrum explores life with “high-functioning” autism through the language of colour. Told in second-person narration, the story follows you, as Alma, painting a rainbow across the arc of the play. Each hue unlocks a chapter of growing up neurodivergent. Instead of receiving the “castle kit” given to her peers, Alma is confusingly handed a bowl of water. As others construct castles and build kingdoms around her, Alma learns to carry her water carefully through childhood, adolescence, and ultimately, adulthood, discovering along the way that her difference is not a deficit, but a powerful offer of its own.
