BAPëA Gallery was established in April 2000 as part of BAPëA Art School. Defiant, independent and alternative, BAPëA Gallery, continues to impress Bohemia on the now celebrated gentrified suburb of Brompton. Historically, Bowden and Brompton were vibrant communities of alternative fringe dwellers, artist studios and manufacturing industries. Sadly, many former studios and buildings of interest have disappeared over recent years as the neighbourhood undergoes an enormous urban renewal program at times insensitive to the mood and organic social history of the district.
Since the closure of BAPëA Art School in 2019, BAPëA Gallery continues to manage an access pop-up gallery exhibition program.
This summer Fringe 2024, approach Bapëa Gallery through its cool tranquil gardens! Refresh on a bench under the shade of sprawling trees or on a wicker chair perched on the broad Deco veranda. And, when you’re ready, cross the threshold to view the exhibition.
