“The Hanging of Elizabeth Woolcock” A Biographical True Crime Play.
On 30 December 1873, a tragic figure stood at the gallows of the Adelaide Gaol. Elizabeth Woolcock would go on to be the only woman ever hanged in South Australia for a crime that has been contested ever since. “The Hanging of Elizabeth Woolcock” presents a live, biographical, true crime play that takes you through all of the facts of one of the most fiercely contested true crime cases in Australian history.
Presented by cabaret and live theatre powerhouse, Hilary Boyce, her exquisite portrayal of Elizabeth Woolcock is raw, intelligent and gives dignity back to a woman who lost her life to it 153 years ago. This production will be presented 42 meters away from the location where Elizabeth was hanged and buried at the Gaol in 1873.
Car parking available 150 meters from the performance location.
