CANCELLED: #Hypocrisy

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Spoken Word
United Kingdom • SA Premiere

Lost in the bliss of foreign travel, Imogen succumbs to the spoils of Western privilege. Dangerous politicians prevail, fake news is king and social media sympathy pours in for Western terror victims, yet backs turn on the migrant crisis. What staggering hypocrisy.

#Hypocrisy is the debut show by Scottish performance poet Imogen Stirling and comes to Australia for the first time in 2020. Fusing a modern take on poetry with an original supporting music score, whip-cracking with energy and dark humour, it unsettles in order to encourage change.

Reviews & Fringefeed Reacts

  • A piece of life-affirming artistry that can restore the faith of even the most downtrodden socialist in the audience. - Rob Warren, Everything Theatre

  • Hands down my top pick of the festival - Imogen builds a show with the most exquisite pace, with melodic poetry that all will relate to. - The Awkward Corner

  • Imogen's work is both thoughtful and thought-provoking, a true breath of fresh air in what feels like an ever-darkening political time. - Grace Lavender, The Skinny
