HOMER'S ODYSSEY - A Mini Musical
What would you do if your home was lost — and your only way back was through story and song?
Loucas Loizou brings Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey to life in this one-man musical, following an aging Odysseus as he recalls the Trojan War, the Cyclops, Circe, the Underworld, and the long, perilous journey back to Ithaca.
Through storytelling and original live music on classical guitar, the show captures the spirit of the ancient oral tradition: epic poetry meant to be heard. But this is also a personal journey.
A refugee after the 1974 invasion of Cyprus, Loizou knows exile and resilience. His early performances in London — including his first professional singing job at Cat Stevens’ restaurant — and his eventual life in Australia echo the hero he portrays.
Now in its 8th year at the Adelaide Fringe, this intimate mini musical blends epic myth, humor, music, and heart, inviting audiences to experience a timeless story through a performer who has lived its themes.
