Fruit Tree Sun
Inspired by her family's background in farming, agriculture, and gardening, Allison Chhorn utilises multimedia installation to explore gardening as a metaphor for a growing family. In particular, she looks to South East Asian and diasporic families, and the observation of plant growth, natural cycles, and organic preservation.
"Working in the garden has become part of my practice, day-to-day tending to and witnessing the plants' growth. In the long term, I observe the natural cycles and weathering of seasons over time" ... "Over the years, I have photographed the fruits, trees, and sunlight in the garden, observing them and my family grow older"
This exhibition is presented as the result of a three month studio residency at Nexus Arts Gallery.
