One of InDaily's 2022 Festival top picks, we're back for a 3rd year!

This parade is for everyone to join, but especially "Monsters".

A Dancing Monster is a masked protector of an important place: in this case, The Port River Yerta Bulti.
Dance with a mask, play an instrument, sing, or just come and witness our only annual Monster parade.

Let the wild rumpus start!

Also:

👹 A Magic Cave! This year the Parade will end at Folklore Cafe, where you can enter a Magic Cave nest and be fed jelly snakes by a Monster Mother Bird! You heard me!

👹 You can make a mask from recycled/natural materials, incorporating items that are important to you.

👹 There will  be Monster workshops in the weeks leading to event.

👹 Follow the Dancing Monsters Facebook page for updates and more information.

Dancing Monsters invites community participants to explore human relationship with place through becoming / hosting a more-than-human “Monster”.
This practice draws inspiration from widespread folk traditions that nominate non-human entities to represent or protect place, seasonal transition and community.
There is very likely an example from your cultural lineage, these can be referred to for inspiration, but is ideally developed in collaboration with the place the “Monster” protects.

The practice culminates annually in a public event: a Monster parade that involves local musicians, and community members community members alongside the monsters.

Plenty of car parking near the Birkenhead or British Hotels. Feel free to come anytime from 5pm to prepare your monster, or rehearse. Assistance and materials provided where possible. 10 Minute walk from Glanville Train Station.
