Upside Down Fantasyland
'Upside Down Fantasyland' is a raw and poetic exploration of Troy Rogers' journey from the shadows of his past to the light of his future.
Through heartfelt poetry, powerful songs, and evocative prose, Troy vulnerably takes the stage to share his experiences of growing up in out-of-home care. His childhood shaped by the trauma of drug-related struggles and a life with his grandmother due to his parents' substance abuse.
In this deeply personal performance, Troy delves into the complexities of his past with honesty and courage, while balancing the heavy material with humour and love.
'Upside Down Fantasyland' offers an unflinching look at resilience, healing, and the bittersweet nature of growing up in a world turned upside down.
Presented by: Troy Rogers
Troy Rogers is an emerging artist living on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Troy was keenly interested in the arts as a child, but unfortunately due to his circumstances living with heroin addicted parents and the trauma that came along with it, his creative dreams never really had the chance to flourish. It took a lifetime of healing and a decade long career as a therapeutic youth worker for Troy to rediscover his childhood passions. His one-man show "Upside Down Fantasyland" was developed and debuted in 2024, an autobiography focussing on the themes of Troy's tragic childhood experiences and the triumphs that followed.
Troy has been acting for the past 3 years in his local area of Coffs Harbour in plays and musicals. He has just signed with International Casting and Creative Management to pursue acting roles in television, film and stage. Troy anticipates 2026 to be a big year where he goes all in on a creative career. Complementing the acting and feeding his desire to create with no barriers, Troy also enjoys singing, dancing, modelling, silversmithing, drawing and writing. Ultimately Troy would like to create a life where he has all the resources he needs to bring his imagination to life.
