Umeewarra Media is a dynamic Aboriginal-owned and operated media organization based in Port Augusta, South Australia. Established in 1986, Umeewarra Media has been a vital voice for Aboriginal communities, providing a platform for cultural expression, community news, and social advocacy. Through its radio station, Umeewarra 89.1 FM, it broadcasts music, news, and talk programs that celebrate and inform Aboriginal people, promoting community issues, achievements, and culture. Umeewarra Media also supports local talent development and youth empowerment through programs like Deadly Democracy, Next Gen Leadership, and smartphone documentary training, ensuring future generations are equipped to tell their stories. With projects like the Elders Speak and the upcoming Umeewarra Downtown Festival.
