Thick and Thin

In ‘Thick and Thin,’ Helpmann Academy 2024 residency artists Lauren Downton, Tiarnie Edwards, Chelsie Morey, and Cameron Longshaw showcase a vibrant interplay of porcelain, clay, wood, and steel at The Gallery at St Peters Town Hall. Each artist pushes their medium in unique directions, challenging expectations. Their installations reveal the tension and harmony between materials—metal’s impermeability and clay’s earthiness, wood’s warmth and porcelain’s fragility. ‘Thick and Thin’ encourages us to reflect on the sources of strength and vulnerability in both art and life. The artists reinterpret traditional forms, inviting audiences to explore a realm where balance is both elusive and vital.
