Theatre and Physical Theatre • Comedy
Victoria
SOLD OUT 2019 and 2020, back in 2021!

When William Shakespeare travels back in time to ancient Rome to research his newest play, he unwittingly finds himself a prime suspect in the murder of Julius Caesar. He and his faithful sidekick Cardenio are forced to use all their tact and cunning to evade the villainous senator Brutus, the man who plotted Caesar's downfall, who is desperate to throw the dirty foreigners to the lions for two reasons: firstly, to win back the trust of the Roman people, distraught at the ultimately death of their beloved leader; and secondly to satisfy the incisive ponderings of the trenchcoat-clad Inspector Detectivus from the Roman Politizia, who is close to cracking the case of the century!

Presented by: Elwood Social Club Productions

Elwood Social Club Productions is a comedy and theatre production company founded by Kieran Bullock and focused on delivering fast-paced original comedy theatre. Previous productions include the West End smash Hitchcock comedy The 39 Steps, Joe Orton's farce Funeral Games, and an original play written by Kieran called The Ides of March, which toured Perth and Adelaide in 2019 and 2020 (both sold out seasons) and is returning to the Adelaide Fringe in 2021 for the third year in a row.

Comedy and entertainment are at the heart of all Elwood Social Club productions - a return to the days of old where people went to the theatre to be entertained! Much like going to the cinema or watching TV. Theatre as entertainment. Somewhat old school, but as relevant as ever.

It’s a bald-faced bard’s farce, full of slapstick and knowing nods to his other works, and a great way to start your Fringe. - Mark Wickett, Stage Whispers

For those who love Shakespeare, ancient history, or laugh-a-minute theatre; a delightfully absurd comedy that will keep you entertained. - Guy Henderson, Everything Adelaide
