Sweet Home Songs

Music • Acoustic
South Australia

Original songs and stories from the sell-out 2021 Adelaide Fringe show SWT_HM_ADL and its new 2022 incarnation, Sweet Home SA.

Walk the beat with pioneering policewoman Annie Ross in Port Adelaide, re-live the 1931 beef riot, skip through the hills of Clare, help Doctor D rename the streets of the city, or mourn the loss of iconic department stores and music venues. Reconnect with their journeys, our journey, our home.

Suitable for all ages, this is an intimate acoustic performance by award-winning songwriters Doctor D and Fergus Maximus. Oozing fun and positivity with a large dose of humour and nostalgia, they ask, 'Is there a better place to live?'

Review of SWT_HM_ADL: ★★★★ 'A fine collection of Adelaide songs by people who clearly love the place.' The Clothesline Digital Arts Magazine

Presented by: Doctor D and Fergus Maximus

Known for his satire and humour, Doctor D also writes more serious songs with insightful lyrics and catchy sing-along tunes. As a frequent visitor from the UK and now an SA resident, he has built a repertoire of locally-themed songs spanning musical genres. He has performed on five continents including legendary venues in London and Chicago.

Born in Whyalla, Fergus Maximus grew up in Clare. Singer/Storyteller. Songwriter. Writerwriter. Saxophonist. An engaging storyteller, Ferg’s melodic pop and jazzy songs embrace all the important things— love, loss, mistakes, surprises and people’s astonishing capacity to miscommunicate— with wit, intelligence and fun.

The first collaboration of these multi-award-winning songwriters was their sell-out, 4-star, 2021 Adelaide Fringe show SWT_HM_ADL.
