Storyteller
Drawing on folk tales, poetry, and horror films, Melanie Walters presents a recital of contemporary flute works that weaves stories through music and text. The program includes compositions by Nathalie Joachim, Amy Beth Kirsten, and Andrew Ford.

Presented by: Melanie Walters
Melanie Walters has been described as a “champion of new music” and her flute-playing as “truly exceptional”. She holds a PhD in flute performance, for which she received a Dean’s Commendation. Melanie is an active freelance performer and has played with ensembles including Soundstream Collective, Adelaide Wind Orchestra, and Southern Cross Symphony. She was a performance fellow at the Bang on a Can Summer Festival and has performed for Musica Viva Sessions, COMA Adelaide, Experimental Night at The Metro, Tilde New Music Festival, Chamber Music Adelaide, Adelaide Contemporary Experimental and Port Adelaide Artists Forum.
