Steve Reich Music for 18 Musicians
Music
United States
For the first time, SA audiences will hear Music for 18 Musicians in live
performance! 4 pianos, 7 percussion and 4 singers feature in the line up
for this mesmerising work, included in Bowie's list of 25 of his favourite
albums of all time ("Confessions of a Vinyl Junkie"). 18 is often regarded
as Reich's masterpiece; audiences simply can't get enough of it.
On release in 1978, 18's impact on the new music scene was instant and overwhelming. Described by Alex Ross of The New Yorker as a '40 year wonder', the scattered rock stars in the audience at the performance of 18 to celebrate Reich's 70th year attest to its continued cool appeal. Plus REICH REMIXED - An RCC commissioned after event by DJ TR!P.
Please note: This event has had a title change from 'SOUNDSTREAM COLLECTIVE: Steve Reich Music for 18 Musicians (1978)' since the Adelaide Fringe guide was printed.
